I finally finished my first vehicle maintenance video on Saturday and it took significantly longer to edit the video than I had originally thought that it might. I made an error that I didn’t notice at first, but which caused me to have to go back and redo a portion of the video. I also had an opportunity to practice blurring portions of the video.
Overall the oil change on the 2013 Mazda 3 with the Skyactiv engine required about 40 minutes to complete and was a fairly straight forward oil change. For anyone considering completing an oil change as part of normal maintenance on their Mazda 3 I would recommend looking for the Oil and Oil Filter on Sale. The Dealership cost in Edmonton is $78.50 while this DIY cost me $48.70. Had I paid full price it would be difficult to say doing the oil change yourself would come out cheaper. I purchased the Oil and Filter at Canadian Tire.
To do this i required the following tools and parts:
1) Mobile 1 0 W 20 Synthetic Oil;
2) FRAM XG 6607 Synthetic oil filter;
3) Funnel;
4) Shop Rags;
5) Oil Catch Pan;
6) Oil Plug Washer;
7) 8 mm Socket;
8) 8 mm Allen Key;
9) Vinyl Nitrile Gloves; and
10) Eye Protection.
Cheers
