building a gpu mining rig

This is the absolute least expensive, yet fully functional GPU mining frame that I was able to come up with. Could you get a fancier one? Yes. Would it cost more? Almost certainly yes as well. Keeping the overall costs of your mining farm activities to the lowest level will help to ensure that you have the greatest return from your mining activities. This design will allow you to drop you normal desk top computer on its back, open up the front cover and run everything from above your desktop.

my key take aways

Measure your computer tower. Mine is 10x20x20.
You need 2 x 8 foot long 2x2s
You will also need furring channel which is the dry wall area of most big box home renovation stores
Cut your boards to accomodate the computer within the wooden frame. Attach the fronts, bottom, and top boards.
Attach the rear support. I make it 4 3/4 inch higher to accomodate the GPU.
Attach the top brace
Attach furring channel for the GPU riser to sit on
Attach furring channel to the top support and adust height with pliers
Drill holes in the furring Channel to attach GPU onto
Secure GPU to the furring channel with a nut and bolt
Consider adding an additional front brace
Here is an alternate example with bar in centre and GPUs on each side
Here it is in the day light. The last thing to do is slide the computer tower under the rig and hook it all up.

This is the furring channel that I used.
