POOL LADDER RUNG REPLACEMENT

Nothing lasts forever and pool ladder rungs are no exception. Sitting in chemicals and being exposed to UV rays all day everyday will weaken t he plastic structure. Fortunately replacing them is a very easy process.

Pool ladders are manditory in most areas and you periodically may need to replace the rungs.
You should replace them all at once as if one has broken down the rest are likely close behind
Loosen the retainer bolts
Remove the ladder
I had too many jelly donuts and broke the centre rung. The rungs are held in by a carriage bolt, a washer and a nut
Remove the old hard ware
A small socket is very helpful in removing the nuts
Each rung should have these items on each side
Place a rung in its final location. You may need to loosen the other rungs to allow it to slide in
In each side of the run insert the bolt, install the washer and tighten the nut only so that it holds the washer on. It is bettert to keep everything loose as the other rungs are installed
Remove another rung, the order is not important
Remove a rung and install the new rung while keeping the bolts loose
With all new rungs in place you can start tightening everything back up
Don't over tighten as it could break the plastic.
Put the ladder back in place
Tighten the retainer bolts
Go for a swim
