LAUNDRY ROOM LIGHT INSTALL

After breaking my light while installing a door it’s time to put in something that isn’t just a light bulb hanging from the ceiling. Installing lights is actually pretty easy, but you must always check your local building codes and know what you are doing. I can’t provide any individual recommendations since my installation is applicable to my location only.
Do your research on building codes in your area before starting your installation

This is what the light looked like before I started work
I purchased a Kitchler Barrington for my installation
The parts that come with individual lights may vary. Generally a mounting plate the body of the light and a glass globe will come with the light you buy
ALWAYS know if your device has power running to it. In this case my light is still energized
Turn off both the breaker and the switch to the device you are working on. RECHECK to ensure there is no power going to your device box that you are working on
Remove the screw that are holding the old light in place
You must also know which is your hot and neutral wire. You may need to check to ensure which is hot if your house is older and previous owners did their own work
With the power off, the mounting plate was installed and wires were pulled through
Lights come only partially assembled. You may need to do some additional assembly yourself
In my location the grounding wire for the light must be attached to the mounting plate as well as the grounding wire that goes back to the breaker panel. The wire from the breaker must also be attached inside the device box
The wire nuts were used to attach the hot wire to the black wire coming from the light, and the neutral wire was attached to the white wire coming from the light. In this case white to white, black to black
Once the wires are attached, the light can be mounted up to the device box
Install the light bulbs, turn the power back and give it a test. In my case everything worked fine
I bought some LED bulbs because they look almost the same and only use 5.5 Watts rather than 60 Watts
After mounting up the glass, the project came to an end.
