Backup Camera Fix

Having a back up camera stop working is a bit of a pain. Although I’ll start with the actual problem below, there are some other steps you might want to consider to get it up and running.

Here is my actual problem. the pass through on the lift gate (passenger side had some crushed wires. I used electrical tape to separate them.
In reverse and no image is not the best situation. You might have a reset option on your stereo and that would be a good thing to reset
Best first thing to check is really the fuses. You might need to check a few that are related to reverse lights
Removing the negative battery terminal for a few minutes may also reset the system
To remove the camera use a 10mm to remove the first bolt
There is a one 10mm that is deep in the handle
Once the bolt is out, the handle can be pulled out
There is also two 7mm bolts that need to be removed
This is the second bolt
Once the bolts are out the interior trim can be pulled down to get at the camera
To remove the camera disconnect the electrical connector
The camera can be pushed out backwards
This is what the camera looks like
Some electrical connector cleaner might also help out
Insert the camera back into the lift gate and push it until it clicks into place
Attach the electrical connector
There are clips on the door that the electrical connector attaches to
There are plastic clips to reattach the door trim
Install first bolt
Install second bolt
Install the third bolt in the handle
Look into the lift gate electrical pass through if nothing else works, or maybe do it first
Here is my damage
Separate the broken wires and tape them separate from each other
Put the rubber pass through boot back into place
If all goes well there will be a reverse camera that functions now
