2013 mazda 3 rear speaker installation

There are a few things that I have noticed are a bit substandard on the 2013 Mazda 3. The first is the road noise from the total lack of any sound deadening material. The second is the low quality of the stock stereo speakers. I have attempted to fix both of these problems at once by installing Kilmat sound deadening material as well as putting in some new Kicker 6×8 speakers which were a perfect drop in replacement for the factory speakers.

Pop off the handle trim with a flat head screwdriver
Pop off the door latch trim with same flat head
Remove screw from door latch
There are two screws in the door handle that need to be removed
Use an appropriate tool to pry off the door panel
I'd recommened carefully prying the trim off all the way around
One wiring harness needs to be removed
You need to pop out the door latch from the outer door panel

Disconnect the wiring harness on the speaker
Remove the four screws
You may need to drill a hole to pass speaker wires through
Depending on your situation you may need to cut off wiring harness

For Rear passenger side (Brown = (-), Blue = (+)
For Rear Driver Side (green = (-), white = (+)

Attach wires to speaker
Screw your speakers into the inner door trim
Attach speaker wires to the car side wires
Secure the wires, I used kilmat to hold them down
Reattach the wiring harness to the door panel
Push door latch into door trim until it clips into place
Push door panel into place securely
Install screw and replace cover
Install screws and replace cover plate on door handle
These are the speakers I used
For sound deadening remove the inner door panel with a 10mm
Before applying sound deadening wipe it down with Isopropyl Alcohol
Cover the flat surfaces and push it flat with a roller
Get some on the panels as well. At least cover 25% of surfaces
