MAZDA 3 HORN REPLACEMENT

You can’t ignore a horn that doesn’t work, but you can ignore a horn that seems like it’s on its last legs. In this case my horn started to sound embarrassingly weak. Changing the horn for a new model was a fast and easy process and well worth the investment of time.

my key take aways

You might be able to do this with the wheel on, but I recommend the wheel be removed that the vehicle safely secured with jack stands
Remove the bolts and connectors from driver's side skid plate.
Remove bolts and connectors from the trim inside the driver's side wheel well.
Pull the trim down and towards the rear wheel to gain access to the horn
Take off 10 mm nut the secures the horn and remove from vehicle, note the OEM horn has no ground connector
Ensure the new horn has the ground wire properly secured
Install new horn and bolt into place
Attach the wiring harness to the horn
After testing the horn install the fasteners to secure the wheel well liner and skid plate and put the wheel back on
