Honda Pilot O2 Sensor

There are several O2 Sensors in the 2005 Honda Pilot. I am changing the easiest one to change (Bank 2, Sensor 2), but the concept for all of them will be the same. I will only cover the removal and installation in this video. I will not cover all the home remedies that I tried as they were all epic failures.

So you have a bad O2 Sensor? The Pilot has alot of them so make sure you know which one is bad
This is the one that I got for S2 B2
Sensors should come fully wrapped with a protective cap on the sensor end. If yours is open I would recommend returning it imediately
Removal of the old S2B2 sensor should start at the top by disconecting the electrcial connection near the top of the engine. You are basically going top to bottom for removal
You can see the disconnected sensor in the bottom centre of the picture
The next thing to remove is the mounting bracket that hold the wires to the engine. It is a 10mm bolt
You should get the specialty O2 sensor socket. Its not 100% necessary, but it is helpful
Use the O2 sensor socked and breaker bar to remove the O2 sensor. Warm engine with a ton of PB Blaster might help
Compare old and new before opening the package. they are non-refundable once open
There is usually a plastic cover on the sensor. That needs to come off prior to installation. Installation goes the revers of the removal. So I will be going bottom to top.
Put the sensor in and tighten it as much as possible by hand
Use the sensor socket and breaker bar to tighten it up. I have no torque spec for this
I found an adjustable wrench was helpful to tighten things up when the Sensor socket wasn't working
Next install the 10mm bolt to secure the O2 sensor wires to the engine
Pass the electrical connector up through the engine by until it is in the correct location
There is a small mounting bracket for the electrical connector. Snap it into place on the mounting bracket
The last thing to do is to connect the electrical connections, start the engine and hope it all went well
